Cape Town makes over R25m in Cash for Power payments. Policy changes allow sellers to earn credits against their municipal bill and receive cash for surplus power fed back into the grid.
Mayor Geordin Hill-Lewis views this initiative as a crucial step in transitioning the city's energy mix towards decentralisation and reliability, with plans to end load-shedding over time.
Fintech giant Interswitch eyes telecoms market with $1 million MNVO license. The license enables Interswitch to venture into Nigeria's telecommunications sector by providing asset-light telecom services in collaboration with one of Nigeria's four telcos, focusing on underserved areas.
Interswitch plans to leverage its large customer base (more than 50 million debit cards issued through Verve) to offer telecommunications services as an alternative to existing options.
